Christmas in the Benefice

Light in the Midst of Darkness 2022

Everyone is warmly invited to the Advent and Christmas services and events taking place in our churches and in the community.

We will be turning on the heating in church, but it may not be turned on as early as usual. It would be a good idea to come to church well wrapped up, just in case.

Below is an overview of all the services and events. The churches continue to be open at other times so do drop in whenever you like. Details of regular Sunday Services can be found on the calendar on the homepage here: https://wychwoodbenefice.org.uk/whats-on/benefice-calendar/

Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2022

Shoebox gift

NEW This year we are collecting both completed shoeboxes as well as items for filling shoeboxes.

Each year Teams4U run a nationwide shoebox appeal to provide Christmas gifts to vulnerable children and families.

With the cost of living crisis impacting on many of us, Teams4U are making it even easier to support their appeal this year.
This year Shoeboxes will go to deprived children/vulnerable adults/families in Ukraine, Romania, Bosnia, Moldova and Georgia.
Ways to help:
➡ If you can’t donate a full shoebox why not join up with a friend or two.
➡ Or you can donate items towards a shoebox (see the guide online for what you can donate) and the shoeboxes will be completed by Teams4U
➡ If you can donate a full shoebox, great, we’d still welcome full shoeboxes.
➡ You can also donate £15 for Teams4U to put the shoebox together for you.
All shoeboxes and contents to be dropped off in Milton Church by Sunday 20 November.
More details and shoebox guides and labels online (leaflets also in Milton church). https://teams4u.com/shoebox-guide/
Our special Shoebox Sunday Service is on Sunday 20 November, 9.30am in Milton Church. Everyone is welcome.

Farmers’ Question Time – Saturday 19 November 7pm
New Beaconsfield Hall – Shipton Church Fundraising Event

Climate warnings, food mileage, pesticides, are all questions we need to be able to answer and our event on November 19th is one way to inform yourself of the details.

Four of our local food producers, all stars in their own rights, will form a panel at The Farmers’ Question Time.

We will start with a hearty supper and time to gather and chat with friends, there will be a Bar and a Raffle and then you will be able to ask questions of:

Nigel Adams of Fairspear Farm, Leafield

Henry Astor currently heading up Bruern Farm

Bertie Matthews who you will know from FWP Matthews mill in Shipton

and Ian Wilkinson the founder of FarmEd in Shipton.

Between them these four incredibly capable men have the answers to all your questions and are looking forward to see you.

Tickets are £10 each and a vegetarian option to the meal is available if you let us know. Please contact Kay Shortland on 832927 for tickets. We are really looking forward to welcoming you to the event.
