MARTIN THOMAS

Shackleton’s extraordinary polar adventures, the dangers he faced and his brilliant leadership. Our speaker will add a postscript on his own adventure when sailing the Southern Ocean to South Georgia in 2011 in a 50’ ketch with a
crew of six and then following Shackleton’s exact route across the mountains, the Shackleton Traverse. After deduction of modest expenses, all proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to St John the Baptist’s Church Fabric
Fund to help meet the costs of replastering and repainting much of the west end of the church, and the foot of the
tower, at a cost of £7,600 ex VAT The PCC is grateful to Mr Thomas who is giving his time to support us.
Tickets are available from:- Lynne Henderson (01993 831 771) and Catherine Hitchens (01993 831 881) at £15 per person or email Pat Yaxley at [email protected] for more information.

Please note: To enable people to attend the above, we have changed the services on this day to a United Benefice Communion service at 9.30am in Milton.
Around 240 people squeezed into St Mary’s for Kate’s final service on 31 December. This was followed by a lovely lunch at the New Beaconsfield Hall. Thank you to everyone who donated to the leaving gifts, helped with food, drink, washing up and to all who came to help celebrate and say thank you and good luck to the Stacey family.
